Lesvos island

Lesbos (sometimes the island is also referred to as Mytilini after its major city) is located in the northeastern Aegean Sea and is the third largest Greek island and the largest of the numerous Greek islands scattered in the Aegean.
One meaning of the word lesbian derives from the poems of Sappho, who was born in Lesbos and who wrote with powerful emotional content directed toward other women. It is due to this association that Lesbos and especially the town of Eresos, her birthplace, are visited frequently by lesbian tourists. (more info on web page lesbian friendly Lesbos).
Lesbos lesvos/greciateliko Lesbos
Mytilene (the ''capital'' of Lesvos) is one of the oldest cities in the world, probably inhabited since the 10th century BC.
Ancient Mytilene was an islet, just to the east off the coast of Lesvos, where now the medieval castle stands,
separated from the larger island by the channel of Euripus, which connected the north harbour (also called the "old harbour")
and the south harbour (also called the "NEW harbour"). The channel was later filled, thereby joining the islet to the larger island.
Lesbos Lesbos Lesbos
Worth visiting among other, Kalloni village, a municipality that lies in the west-central part of Lesbos, is a beautiful natural spot, since it is surrounded by the gulf waters, and supplied by the rich plain of 100 km, through which six rivers flow. There is always enough water from the underground and spring waters for its vineyards and gardens, and surrounded by historic monasteries. Kalloni was always the crossroad where the main roads passed. This has not changed much from ancient times. In the last decade, this large village has developed in the field of trade and is the seat of the municipality that comprises the settlements of Agra, Anemotia, Dafia.

Getting there by Plane

Flights run regularly to/from Athens, Thessaloniki, Chios and Lemnos. Internationally, the island is a popular holiday destination so is served by regular charter flights.

Getting there by ship
The island is also connected with the mainland and other islands by ship. Many major companies offer routes between Lesbos and Athens.
The main shipping company is NEL Lines. The trip is 11-13 hours depending on which ship you board.

Ikaria island

Ikaria, also spelled Icaria , is an island 10 nautical miles (19 km) southwest of Samos.
It derived its name from Icarus, the son of Daedalus in Greek mythology, who fell into the sea nearby.
Ikaria has been inhabited since at least 7000 BC, when it was populated by the Neolithic pre-Hellenic people that Greeks called Pelasgians.
The topography is a contrast between verdant slopes and barren steep rocks. The island is mountainous for the most part. It is traversed by Aetheras range, whose highest summit is 1,037m. Most of its villages are nestled in the plains near the coast, with only some of them on the mountains. Icaria has a tradition in the production of strong red wine. Many parts of the island, especially the ravines, are covered in large bushes, making the landscape lush with green.
Ikaria has very attractive beaches. Among other Agios Giorgis Beach- a remote sandy beach protected by a cove located at the extreme northern tip of the Island. Evdilos Beach (Kiparissi)- located just before the city of Evdilos and Faros Beach- Located in Faros this sandy-pebble beach is a popular weekend getaway that had ideal swimming waters.

Evia island

Evia, also Euboea, is in Central and Northern Greece. Though an island, it's so large and so close to the mainland that it has more of a mainland atmosphere than an island one.
It is separated from the mainland of Greece by the narrow Euripus Strait. In general outline it is a long and narrow, seahorse-shaped island; it is about 150 kilometres (93 mi) long, and varies in breadth from 50 kilometres (31 mi) to 6 kilometres (3.7 mi). Its general direction is from northwest to southeast, and it is traversed throughout its length by a mountain range, which forms part of the chain that bounds Thessaly on the east, and is continued south of Euboea in the lofty islands of Andros, Tinos and Mykonos.
Chalkis or Halkida () is the capital of the island, a lively city of more than 50.000 citizens.
Halkida has a wonderfoul urban coastline area, built on the two coasts of the strait of Evripos.
As a greek island, Evia has a warm summer which allows the residents to swim at the many small beaches of the northern section of the city (at both coasts).
Tourism is not much developed. Its main attractions for the visitor are the landscape and traditional villages.
More tourist-oriented spot is Aedipsos, famous for its natural spas and hot springs and Karystos in the south.
